Currently the update tool defaults to executing the update immediately and provides a -d
flag for dry-run mode. A safer default would be to show the proposed version change with an interactive Y/N prompt to confirm if the user wants to execute the update.
We should also provide a -y
flag so the update can be run non-interactively.
We could provide a -n
flag so the proposed version change can be shown but not executed. This is what the -d
flag does now, so we could change that flag or just add another and keep both for backwards compatibility.
